New World Trade Center agreement will expand trade between Ukraine and Afghanistan

KYIV, UKRAINE, 12 March 2021 – World Trade Center Kyiv (WTC Kyiv) signed a memorandum of understanding for strategic cooperation and resource sharing with World Trade Center Kabul (WTC Kabul) on Thursday, March 11, 2021. The agreement outlines areas of cooperation to facilitate bilateral trade, including business matchmaking, investment promotion, inter-government cooperation, and sharing of services.

“Cooperation with strong partners like WTC Kabul is essential to how we will deliver benefits to businesses in Ukraine. I am pleased that our first cooperation agreement includes an emphasis on mutual objectives built on a foundation of trust, transparency, and anti-corruption,” said Henry Shterenberg, President, WTC Kyiv.

Shterenberg signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with Zabiullah Ziarmal, President of WTC Kabul, at the Premier Palace Hotel in Kyiv, Ukraine. This signing is WTC Kyiv’s first with a key partner in the global network of World Trade Centers.
“Our new alliance with WTC Kyiv will serve as a vital avenue to expand trade between Kabul and Kyiv — and, indeed, between our two countries,” said Zabiullah Ziarmal, President, WTC Kabul.

The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Nisar Ahmad Faizy Ghoryani, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Ambassador Wali Munawar, Ambassador of Afghanistan in Ukraine. Senior staff of WTC Kyiv and a delegation of government and business leaders from Afghanistan were present at the event.
WTC Kyiv was granted its historic license to operate a World Trade Center in Ukraine in December 2020.
