McDonald鈥檚 just announced a $120 million makeover plan that will fully transform approximately two out of every three restaurant locations in Arizona. In total, 200 McDonald鈥檚 restaurants in the state will be renovated and outfitted with new technology and other customer service features by the end of 2019.

Governor Doug Ducey commended McDonald鈥檚, the world鈥檚 largest restaurant chain, for continuing to invest in Arizona.

鈥淣early 50 years ago, back in 1975, Arizona became home to McDonald鈥檚 first drive-thru in the country,鈥� Governor Ducey said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e experienced massive growth since then, and our communities and economy are thriving. We鈥檙e glad McDonald鈥檚 and its franchisees are continuing to invest in Arizona.鈥�

Statewide, there are approximately 13,000 McDonald鈥檚 employees. Local McDonald鈥檚 owner/operator Michelle Slayton said the modernization effort reflects the company鈥檚 continued commitment to the Arizona market.

鈥淭his is an exciting time for McDonald鈥檚 and we鈥檙e proud to be making significant investments in our neighborhoods to provide a new experience for our guests in Arizona,鈥� said Slayton. 鈥淲e remain committed to supporting our communities and are proud to support local architecture, engineering and construction jobs across Arizona.鈥� 聽

Nationally, the modernization effort will total $6 billion on the part of McDonald鈥檚 and its franchisees. The project will transform most restaurant locations by 2020.

Improvements are to include:

• Modernized dining rooms with globally and locally inspired d茅cor, new furniture and refreshed exterior designs;
• An enhanced customer experience with digital, self-order kiosks that make ordering and paying for a meal easier;
• Remodeled counters for new table service, allowing guests to relax while their food is being prepared;
• Bright and easy-to-read digital menu boards inside and at the drive-through;
• New designated parking spots for curbside pick-up through mobile-order;
• Expanded McCaf茅 counters and larger display cases.
