WinCup, Inc., a leading national manufacturer of disposable foodservice products, announced it has acquired ConverPack Inc., a global producer of hot and cold paper cups, a move that significantly advances the company鈥檚 sustainability goals and expands its paper manufacturing at its plant in Tolleson, Ariz. and.
The acquisition enables WinCup to strengthen its position in the $3 billion annual paper cup market while growing production of its phade line of marine biodegradable, home- and industrial-compostable paper cups. The phade hot drink cups, which are available at Walmart stores nationwide, degrade in a matter of months and return to the earth in most environments.
鈥淎t WinCup, we have a long history of setting the standard for environmental responsibility,鈥 said Brad Laporte, CEO of WinCup. 鈥淎cquiring ConverPack will vastly expand hot and cold cup production, as well as help grow our phade庐 line of PHA-coated paper cups. This strategic acquisition allows us to remain environmentally focused through innovation and meet our customers’ demands for advanced, plastic-free alternatives as well as traditional foodservice products.鈥
Founded more than 50 years ago, WinCup is best known today for its leadership in sustainable disposable products such as Vio庐 and phade庐, while maintaining a legacy in traditional foam cups and containers.

WinCup鈥檚 commitment to sustainability was reinforced in 2020, when Los Angeles-based investment firm Atar Capital acquired the company. Atar鈥檚 core principles include environmental stewardship.
In Arizona, where manufacturing represents a vital and growing component of the state鈥檚 economy, the move drew praise from industry advocates.
鈥淭his acquisition underscores the Arizona manufacturing sector鈥檚 ability to innovate, adapt, and lead on sustainability,鈥 said Grace Appelbe, executive director of the Arizona Manufacturers Council. 鈥淐ompanies like WinCup are proving that environmental responsibility and industrial competitiveness can go hand in hand. It鈥檚 an exciting example of the future of American manufacturing.鈥
